20 EXECUTIVE MEETING NPA Meeting Summary This is a summary of discussions
held to plan for the next events and changes in the San Diego Chapter.
The attendees were Max Rosenthal (NetsWork), Jim Belasco (NPA), Richard
Davis (Wells Fargo) == Next Meeting Mar ??11:30 at Tio Leo's in Carmel
Valley == AGENDA== The majority of the meeting addressed the upcoming
Wells Fargo Event in May. Other updates are included below so that all
may be informed. == MEMBERSHIPS Brainshare give-away. The NPA is to give
a Brainshare pass to the winner of the new/renew member sign-up. Should
see details very soon. == ELECTIONS Jim Belasco - President Maynard Johnston
- Vice President James Brody - Secretary Dana Weiner - Treasurer == GOLD
SPONSORS Sponsor handbook (Max) Who's new, Who's next? == Web Site revision
status Date to go on-line? Maynard, Jim and Matt will meet 2/23 to finalize
plans to go on-line. == Finances Dana is keeping books and petty cash
An event envelope is being developed by Dana. For each event there will
be an envelope and a cover sheet to collect $$ and to record the event
name, date, sponsor, and in kind donations by sponsors. The financial
and donation information is used as part of our annual budget and reporting
to NPA. == Printing & Advertising Newspapers ads? Joe Clark has been solicited
to provide Ad service to the chapter? -No progress Materials for public
Kiosks and the like - 2/21 Maynard and Jim are moving forward with the
development of brochures, locations for public display and distribution.
Maynard is investigating the inclusion of NPA materials and a potential
"honorary" 180 day membership for out of work network professionals. We
will provide the plan to NPA for approval. == Review Past Event IBS February
- Event attendance 20+. The topic did not induce people to attend (nor
did the weather) but those in attendance were pleased. == Next Event -
Mar 13 Luncheon Denise - Speaker: Joe Celano, Web Development Chair SD
Campus Topic: Fiber channeling, storage and capacity - specific topic
items have been requested from us. Promo future events flyers memberships
Mar 27 Luncheon Franck Larece is moving to San Francisco. At this point

? Wells Fargo Sponsored Happy Hour Much discussion was spent on defining
an event which would be beneficial to everyone. Wells Fargo is using a
couple funding sources for the event. All parties in Wells Fargo and NPA
need to benefit. We are looking for specific data bits that will attract
a maximal audience: A social hour to make industry contacts A high profile
location When does a professional need a Private Banker What's hot in
and around technology in San Diego 401(k) and Compensation Deferral as
a way to shelter income Personal investment - fund management Owner/CEO
trust services & employee benefits -Wells at Work A main speaker to set
the stage and draw attendance Second speaker to segue to the Sponsor and
the 7 information tables around the room At each table have a reason for
attendees to visit - stamp at each for door prize? == Future Events We
need to program out 12 months NetAdmin Conference Table Jim Belasco is
working to develop this. Recommendations for restaurant locations are
needed. The parameters are good location, preferably within an attractive
ambience, a large round or square table seating 10 or more (everyone sits
around the same table setting facing each other), quiet enough so we can
talk for 3 hours, evening. Get a great location Restaurant with large

Career Expo in Summer? Linux/Solaris/Unix Tech night possibly as part
of Education Series Microsoft Education series with Norman McEntyre being
negotiated Denise & Jim to investigate using UoP instructors for part
of education series Max to contact Tim Francisco: Pursue Cisco Technical
presentations, bring CISCO users group into SDNPA, AVVID UCSD Extension
has volunteered meeting facilities, speakers and assistance with education
series. - Requires significant investment from UCSD to earn sponsorship.
